What is Replo?

REPLO origins from the classical latin word replum and means a doorframe of unknown origin (Vitruvius). In Botany means a separating wall, made from placenta, membrane between valves or compartments in some fruits.

REPLO Press is a Art Printmaking and Publishing Lab founded 2019 by S. Maccariello focussed on risography based by WW48 Studio, a space for art and documentation since 2009 in Weichselstrasse 48 in Neukölln, Berlin.

What is Risography?

The Riso Kakagu Corporation was founded in 1986 in Japan. Since ever used by schools, churchs, hospitals and istitutions. The rispograph is a printing tecnique between screenprint and mimeograph. It´s a cold printing process, saving energy and ressources. It The printcolors are vegetal based inks made from soya and rice bran oil. In the last years Riso was used by artists, designers and publishers. Every single risoprint is unique and has no impact on environment and on persons using it. Riso ist the „ideal“ printmachine ! Why is it Ideal? Riso means in japanese ideal. Graphia means via Latin, from Greek, graphein to write. Because it is substainable printmaking!
